Accessing sub directories is too slow - no mapped drives

Hope some one can help. i have been reading about many people having problems
when trying to open folders only to find Office takes ages to browse the
contents.

I have the same problem with Office 2K3 Pro on an WinXP SP2 machine. As soon
as i try to browse a directory to open a file in any Office program, i have
to wait for a loooong time before anything is displayed.

The computer is plugged into my works LAN, and other machines with the same
configuration work fine. Except this one. Browsing with Explorer is fine, and
with other non-office programs.

I have checked for mapped network drives and the only ones showing are the
ones in use on our network, basically the drives i access. No other drives
are attached. I've disconnected and reconnected mapped drives, reinstalled
office, checked firewall settings etc, but still no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas or other solutions which may help? Any advice
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Only to say I am having the EXACT same problem with one of my users on a
laptop. Searching for a solution to this has turned up nothing but
clean up the temp files to this point.
