Accidental save

I accidentally saved a story on another important file.
Is there anyway I can un-save it? I did it last night and
turned off the computer so I can't press ctrl+z.

It is probably gone without trace.

Backups are an excellent idea. It usually takes a problem like this before
people learn the need for them.
