accidental uninstall

Help! I was in the Change/Remove Programs window and accidentally
uninstalled Publisher 2002. I do not have this application on CD or disk.
Other computers in the office have it, and i sent myself the .exe, but it
won't work on my computer. Is there anything i can do to get the app back
after the uninstall?

Ask your sysadmin to reinstall it for you.

We don't have a SysAdmin - we are a small nonprofit with only three staff
members. I am going to have to find a solution by myself. Any other
suggestions? Thanks.

Where did Publisher come from? Was it preinstalled with the machine?

Yes, i believe it was preinstalled. I have contacted Dell about it, but the
warranty is expired so they cannot send me a replacement CD. I will have to
buy an upgrade. Of course, i have to get approval to do that and would have
rather found an option that didn't cost money, since it was my dumb mistake
that did it in the first place.

Thank you - that is an interesting program. I wasn't able to find anything
in the listing that referred to Publisher, even within the Office section. I
think i am SOL....

Non-profits usually qualify for discounts - so it may not be that painful$$

You can't reinstall from files on another computer that are already
installed. There's a lot more to the installation than the .exe file.
There's the setup one, and some that goes to the registery and all over the
computer (I've been in the same position you are, before (LOL)

If someone had saved the entire file (with set up and everything needed)
you could. But since it's on a cd it probably hasn't been saved. And once
someone has it installed, they can't put it back together in an
"installation" file (like Humpty Dumpty can't be put back together again)

I don't know if it's legal to sell software (maybe just not used) but you
might find it not too expensive on ebay. Where it's an older program. I
don't know if (or how) Publisher comes on it's own. I've had 2000 and 2007
and it comes with "Office".

or, as someone said you could get a discount being non profit. If you
can get a cd of it (Office) at least you'd have it for the office if it's
ever needed again. Usually programs that come with computers (like DELL) are
only trial versions and expire at some point anyway.
