Accumulate time in min or seconds using Timer?

I trying to gather the amount of time a person is on a phone call in minute
or seconds, I want to be able to start a call and end call and have the
difference in min/sec but if the user has to come back to it a start it again
for some reason , I want the min/sec to accumulate . ie... 1st call attempt
lasted 3 min and 2nd attempt lasted 15 minutes , should equal 18 minutes and
not the difference which could be days depeding when the call attempts took
place
