Acrobat 8.1

For those interested and use acrobat (in conjunction with Word Excel),
there is major Update from 8 -> 8.1.

One of the new features included is MS new Office2007 XML system.
I read about it log on to acrobat's user newsgroup by going to support >
user forums then choose Acrobat > Mac.

You have to update the internal updater first then update to 8.1.

For my experience the update of the updater was a little hairy. it
choked several times and I had to resume several times.

The update on my Laptop of Acrobat was flawless. On my Desktop It choked
one time and had to restart again. Then when the actual update began it
hung 3/4 through and I had to restart computer and it completed.
Although it appeared to work fine. I'm not 100% trustworthy of it on the
desktop.

Note: I use a DSL connection.

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!

What I read (on one of the Adobe blogs) was that the new version
integrates and works properly with Office 2007 for Windows. They now
changed the scheme to support the "ribbon"

Unfortunately, I doesn't look like there is anything for Office for
Mac. This update seems to bring rather minor improvements to the Mac
version (some Flash features and a few corrections...).

I suppose if someone sent a Office2007 document to us that we could make
a PDF out of it without actually having to look at it.

I'm not so sure.... Even on Windows, that's not what they meant as far
as I understand it. The Word 2007 improvements are all about Word 2007
integration (as a proper add-on). I dont; think you can drop a WOrd
2007 file on the distiller and get a PDF this way.
