Acrobat Reader Won't Print

J

All:

Just in case anyone else is having problems getting Adobe Acrobat or Adobe
Reader to print on OS 10.3.7... It appears to be a conflict with
Norton/Virex AntiVirus.

Turning OFF the AntiVirus will allow Acrobat 6/Reader 6 to print.

Installing Acrobat 7, now available, enables Acrobat Reader to print without
turning off the antivirus. Reader 7 starts in a flash compared to the
previous version, but it prints VERY slowly and it really burns CPU when
it's doing so. If you're have an iBook on your knees like I do, the word
"burns" in that sentence has special emphasis!

John,

I was having this problem with Adobe Reader 6.0, and I don't even have
AnitVirus installed!

I troubleshot (troubleshooted?) it on the Adobe help site. They told
me to try to print it as an image. It still wouldn't print, even as an
image (it acted like it was going to, but it never did anything). I
DL'ed Reader 7.0, and it printed fine as an image - but you're right,
it took FOREVER to print - and it also printed it VERY tiny. (The
equivalent of about 6-point type; a tiny little 4x4 block of text in
the middle of a big 8x11 sheet of paper.)
So....maybe it's not related to AntiVirus?

Hi Heath:

Consider yourself lucky you got "tiny"...

I got "slightly too large" which was really bloody annoying, given that I
was printing on an (expensive) special paper template of fixed size.

Check your printer settings "Fit to Page" and "Minimise Margins" settings.
Reader seems to be set to play with sizes by default.

Cheers
