I hope you are not a believer in "round tripping" where everything
should look the same as you convert it through one Office application
to another and back to the original place.
Converting to Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) is one way to make sure
that the receiver only has the printed page, and not the formulas
or anything special from in the spreadsheet.
To convert the PDF file to Excel, the best way would be to have
the full Adobe Acrobat package (not the reader) which is rather
pricey for people not in a Graphics Department or Publishing.
