Actions in OWC 11?

H

Hans Riis

Hi.

I'm having trouble getting actions to work in OWC 11. Using the guidelines
in the Office XP Web Component Toolpack with OCW 10 was a success but since
we upgraded to Office 2003, I can't get my actions to work in pivottables.
They work when I browse my cubes in Analysis Manager.

Any help will be much appreciated.

On a second note, when you define an URL-action in Analysis Manager, you can
add values from other dimensions than the one you selected for the action.
However, you only get the value from the "action dimension".
F.ex.:
http://abc.asp?ActionDimension=ABC&OtherDimension=All OtherDimension

Is it only possible to get the value for your action dimension or am I doing
something wrong?

you may want to try re-installing owc11 after re-installing version 10. For
reasons pointed out in the black book, 10 sometimes overwrites version 11

Hi Alvin.

Thanks for taking time to try and help me out. I did what you suggested but
it didn't help. Then by accident I noticed an error icon on one of my pages.
The error read something like "object pt doesn't exist". I was puzzled
because I always use the ids ChartSpace1 and pt1, so what was that "pt"
about?

I switched my pivottable id to "pt" and it worked. I searched the
Actions.htc document for "pt" and there it was. I guess that one can easily
change "pt" to "pt1" in Actions.htc and save it as Actions1.htc if one needs
to have two pivottables in the same document using different cubes.

I changed the classid from OWC 10 to OWC11 but it didn't seem to make any
difference.

We bought your book by the way. There's plenty of good stuff but I haven't
had time to read through it all.

Best Regards, Hans Riis
