Activating Office and Student Home 2007 with Office Professional 2

this isn't too stupid a question. I have Professional 2007 (and 2003 before
that) activiation keys for my other 2 UK purchased laptops in my house but
just bought a netbook (no DVD drive) in the US with Home/Student 2007 on 60
day trial and supplied with Vista. I want to fully activate this version but
hope I don't have to buy another key for H/S a less comprehensive program
than the one I already have, so was hoping to activate using my existing
Professional 2007 key or even introduce the Professional 2007 version to my
netbook. Any suggestions please how I can do either without shelling out
again or paying a huge sum to get technical advice via Microsoft. Thanks

Retail Pro 2007? If so it can be installed onto the netbook.

Procedures: Uninstall the trial from the netbook, Control Panel, Programs
and Features, along with any activation assistant you may find there.

Copy the Disk of Pro 2007 onto a USB drive of some kind, either a key drive
that will hold the entire disk or a USB hard drive.

Start the installation of the program using the Setup.exe file located in
the root directory of the device you copied the files to. Use key for 2007
you already have. (Retail Pro can be installed onto a "device" and also a
portable device (your netbook) for the exclusive use of the primary user of
the first device.)

Update with the latest service packs. Have fun.

Hope this helps, let us know.

A single licence, for a retail version of Office can only be installed on
two devices, you mention 3 devices

Does that mean that you have TWO separate licenses for two different copies
of 2007?
but just bought a netbook (no DVD drive) in the US with Home/Student

If the answer to my first question is "yes" then you can legitimately (as
long as one or more of those licences is Retail not OEM) install on the
Netbook without purchasing another licence. (As long as the version you
install is a Retail version if the two are different).
To do this you will need to either buy an external CD/DVD drive (how are you
going to re-install the OS without one?) or copy the Office DVD to a memory
stick and install from there.
I bought an external DVD drive (cheap from Argos) for my netbook, although
Ubuntu 9.04 can be installed from a memory stick..... :)

Darn, must have been more tired than I thought when I answered this....
Where did I read that you had uninstalled one copy....? You didn't mention
that did you. My response was in error. If you want to activate the trial
then you will need to purchase a new license for it. Same with installing
Pro. I don't think the Pro UK EULA is much different than the one listed
here in the US. Installed on one device which is the primary device,
install on one portable device for the "exclusive" use of the primary user
of the primary device. Any other use would violate the EULA. H & S can be
installed on up to 3 computers in the same household, but if you purchase
the activation make sure it's EULA agrees with this 3 user statement. Some
do not.
