Activating Office Ultimate

Is it possible to Activate "Office Ultimate 2007" that I purchased online
from a trial version of "Home & Student" that's currently running on my
computer?

I'm thinking I can't, as the product key is identified as "invalid".

You have to uninstall any trial version, reboot, prior to installing a paid
for version.
If you installed first you need to uninstall all Office 2007 versions shown
in Add/Remove dialogue and reboot prior to installing the paid for version.
PS I trust you have burnt a copy of the installation file, together with a
copy of the key

Thanks for your help, it was a successful activation.

Next Question:

To ensure my backup copy is effective, from where should I save to create it?
I made a copy of the product Key and I did save the entire "Microsoft
Office" folder from the Start Menu to a DVD+R but I'm worried that the
"Activation Assistant" included in the folder isn't going to suffice in
reinstalling if need be.

is there something else I need to include on this backup disk?

You cannot backup a program folder and use that to restore / install a
program. - That 'backup' is to all intensive purposes of no use to you, all
you have in effect is a coaster.

If you purchased on line from Digital River? they would have sent you the
key via email, you would have also downloaded the installation file, it is
that you need to save. Also keep a copy of the receipt.
I assume you didnt pay extra to get a copy of the DVD sent to you
