Activating Office XP won't pass date check?

Hi there,
I'm running Office XP and Win 98SE. Everything was fine until I installed
Microsofts update from their site. Now upon opening any Office application,
I get prompted that the date is wrong in the Activation wizard. I follow the
instructions to set the date and verify with Microsoft, no problem then it
says to close application and restart for changes to take effect. Does not
allow me to go further in th Activation wizard. I have tried reinstalling
Office XP and I get the same result. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check you CMOS battery if this computer is a a few years old (probably is if
running Windows 98) - it may need replacing.

Any other ideas? My clock is always correct. IS there a way to keep Office
from looking for it. I had no problems until I installed that patch from
Microsoft and now it does this all the time.
