My copy of Office has been successfully activated, but I'm still getting
warnings saying that the copy is not genuine. Here's the background:
I purchased a new laptop from a private party recently. It had Microsoft
Office on it. I thought it was a legitimate copy, but after awhile I got
popups saying that it wasn't genuine. Upon un-installing, I found out it was
the enterprise version of Office.
I was unhappy about this, and resigned myself to having to either live
without Office (using OpenOffice) or purchase a new retail version, which
ticked me off because I already purchased a retail version for my desktop.
Then I found out...quite accidentally..that the retail license for Microsoft
Office allows you to install it on a laptop if you purchase a retail version
for your desktop. So I could legitimately install the version of Microsoft
Office Professional I already had. Sweet!
So I installed Microsoft Office Professional on my laptop without a problem
and activated it successfully.
The problem is that I'm still getting warnings about not having a legitimate
copy of Microsoft Office *despite* the fact that every time I try to activate
it again, Office tells me it's already successfully activated.
Can anyone tell me how I prevent these warnings? I presume it's something
left over from the non-genuine install. I don't even know the phone number to
call, because they only show you the phone number when you haven't yet
activated.
Any help is appreciated.
