Activation Error

I have Microsoft Office on my laptop, a 25 trial version or something. I have
just gone and bought Microsoft Home and Student 2007, entered the CD into
the CD drive, loaded it up, entered in the activation code etc, but for some
reason, when i start up Microsoft Word, i cannot type, or anything like that,
and also, when i open up an old document from my USB stick, i cannot
copy/cut/paste etc. Anyone know how to resolve it?

By the way, it says: "The modification is not allowed, because the selection
is locked"

You must uninstall the trial version before installing the retail version.
