Activation message

I loaded microsoft office after upgrading to windows
2000. IT is telling me each time that it startes up that
I need to activate it. When I try to activate it,
however, it says that it is already activated.

THe number is counting down.

Any ideas?

Use the Telephone Activation method and tell the Microsoft technician about
the change to your system. It'll probably take about 5 minutes or less to
get an activation code.

It sounds like the problem is permission related. The
windows installer is not updating the permissions for the
office registry subkey.
The First option is to log in as Administrator and try
activating office XP. If the same thing happens when
logged in as Administrator then
Click start, run, type regedt32
Backup a full copy of the Windows registry
by clicking on my computer then select registry, export
registy key, type a file name such as regbackup
then click save. Please note the locatin where you are
saving the file in case you need to restore the registry.
Once the registry is saved
Expand the following registry subkey
Select the Office folder so that it is highlighted
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office
click Security, Permissions
Make sure all of the groups listed have full permissions
You may need to add the "Everyone" group and set that to
full control. You should only see the activation prompt
one more time.

Here is a link to a related knowledge base article.
Good luck.
