I have just spoken to a microsoft representative here in Australia, he has just told me that because I have a OEM version of office XP Professional that if I change my motherboard office will no longer work, and I will need to purchase a retail copy, is this right or am I being mislead, on this site it appears you can even move your copies from computer to computer

You cannot move OEM copies from computer to computer. They are tied to the
computer on which you purchased the system. If that system dies, your
license for Office dies.

Depends what the OEM has defined as "computer" but, yes, usually it's the
motherboard. OEM licences are, however, *permanently* bound to the first
computer that they're installed on - which, in the case of yours, is the one
it came with. So, if you bought a new computer, and wanted to transfer your
OEM licence to the new, you couldn't. You would have to purchase a new
licence.

I suggest you read the EULA.

Oh, and it's customary to wait more than 4 hours for a reply. People assist
in their own time - this isn't MS technical support.
