Activation

Microsoft needs to rework their activation methods. They give you the trial,
and the option to convert the key to a full version, but the full version
conversion only works on Shrink wrapped copies, or the key you get
online...It won't work for a eopen license coversion. This is extremely
convenient; now I have to contact the person I purchased the license from,
then he can send me a $19.00 CD...??? WTF???!!!

Can you clarify? You bought a OneNote CD Key from
another person's open license pool, and the key doesn't
work?

Or you tried to apply your open license key on someone
else's retail/downloaded media?

I have a similar issue. I have downloaded and currently
use trial version. I am in a university environment but
cannot convert with our volume license. From Microsoft
(product description =OneNote 2003(Office 2003
Applications. Can I covert from trial with a volume key?

I don't know for sure, but I imagine not. It's probably against the
license agreement to mix license and media types.

If you think about it, it's a reasonable protection against piracy. If
you own a particular type of license, you should already have the media.

The problem is even though OneNote is listed as "Microsoft Office
OneNote" it is really not an Office application.

We have the volume license at our school as well...unfortunately
OneNote is not part of the Office package, so that key will not work.

To clarify: OneNote is part of the Office family of products; it just
isn't bundled as part of "Office Professional" or the other bundles. It
is a separate SKU just like Project and Visio are.

No No...

I downloaded the trial version. I liked it, so I purchased the license
[legally] and received my key via eopen [Microsoft's licensing site], and it
won't work. I have to buy the $22.00 "Media Kit"...

Found that we had a seperate license for OneNote. Had to
uninstall the trial and install from office 2003 CD. then
use the correct volume license for OneNote.
