Activation

I am unable to activate a 6-month trial of Onenote2003 that I have just
downloaded
from the microsoft website as an offer to genuine windows owners. When
I try to activate over the internet, I get the message "the activation
wizard is unable to find a connection to the internet. Please make sure
that your connection is working properly and retry activation in a few
minutes". However, it doesn't seem to try very hard as this message is
flashed up almost immediately, furthermore I have no problem normally
accessing websites (including secure ones) or downloading, over my
university network, although I think this must be a problem with my
network connection somehow. I am running Windows xp SP2. I had the same
problem
activating Officexp on my new IBM laptop a few weeks ago and eventually
activated by telephone. This is not an option for the trial Onenote, as
the option is greyed out. MS Tech support has variably told me that I
don't need to activate the trial version (I can't even enter text
without activating it), or that I needed to do the 80MB/15min download
again because this was the "wrong version" and shouldn't ask for an
activation (although the other option on the activation wizard screen
is "don't activate my copy of the trial". They also transferred me to
the activation dept. which dropped me out twice and have told me that
they can't activate OneNote. Any advice?
Cheers
Ben
