Active Directory after Project Resources have been added

We arew looking at a phased roll out approach which includes adding some
resources to the Enterprise Resource Pool manually or through a MPP import,
and then using AD synchronization in a few weeks when the AD is ready.
My question is....

What's the impact on the existing resources when we sync up. From what I've
read the sync will look for the GUID in cases where the resources are the
same and if not add the resource.

My goal of course is to add the resources now that I need for the existing
projects, say 50 resources, and then when I sync up to AD later have the same
50 resources synced correctly from AD to existing resources.

Can this be accomplished and if so what's the best approach?
