Active Directory and Resource Pool

K

I have Project Server linked to Active Directory to automatically pull people
into the appropriate groups in MS Project. This is working wonderfully,
however, any new resource added through AD does not show up as a resource.
They can log in, create projects, etc. but they can not be assigned as a
resource on a task. Any suggestions? I have admin rights on the server.

1. Create another AD Group and add the AD Groups that you used to
synchronize with Project Server Groups in the new AD Group. This makes a
nested group.

2. Then synchronize with the Enterprise Resource Pool

Here ya go

A. How to create a nested AD global group

Please Note: Make sure that the domain functional level is set to Windows
2000 Native or Windows Server 2003.

1. Create an AD global group called EPM ResPool in Active Directory Users
and Computers tool.
2. Double click EPM ResPool.
3. In the EPM ResPool Properties page, click on Members tab and click Add.
4. In the Select Users, Contacts, Computers or Groups page, Type the Group
Names (that include AD Users) you want to synchronize in the Enterprise
Resource Pool, and click OK twice.

B. Synchronize the AD Global Group to the Enterprise Resource Pool

1. Launch PWA and login with Administration permissions and click on Admin.
2. In the Administration Overview page, click on Server Configuration.
3. In the Server Configuration page, type EPM ResPool in the Active
Directory Group to Synchronize box, and click Update Now.
4. In the Server Configuration page, click Save Changes.
5. In the Administration Overview page, click on Server Configuration to
review the synchronization status message.
6. In the Administration Overview page, click on Resources to review your
resource list.
7. In the Resource Center page, click on Admin.
8. In the Administration Overview page, click on Manage user and groups.
9. In the Users page, review the list of new users created.

Note: If you have an Active Directory group failed or partially failed
message. Click on Start --> Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer. Click on
the Application Log and review the error.

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out

Thanks Rolly, I was able to to get it to work, it turned out that I was using
an a local admin account to logon to the server and needed a domain admin
account to make it work.

So if the domain is in mixed mode, it will not work?

Also, I am constantly receiving the partially failed synchronization error
when it tries to sync with the Enterprise Resource Pool. The event says that
the user name and password do not match. I have no idea which user it is
talking about and where to go to change it... any ideas??
