Active Directory Resource update error

Kuhl

I get the following message in the event viewer on my server when I try to
update the enterprise resource pool to my new active directory group:

This key is already associated with an element of this collection.

Does anyone have any ideas what this means and/or how to resolve it?

Hi Kuhl,

There's nothing to resolve. It just means that a resource you tried to
add was already in the enterprise resource pool.

Is this the case for you?

This is the case with several hundred resources, however I am trying to get
it to add several new resources that were not added previously. We are using
a new AD group to include everyone rather than just the few hundred.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Kuhl,

I'm still not too sure what the problem is? Are your "several new
resources" not included in the ERP?

Also when you say "everyone" do you mean "every person" or the "Everyone
system group"

Let me know...

We have approximately 400 resources in our ERP. We were only sync'ing with
AD for those 400 users. We created a new AD group that contains all
resources in the building (approx. 600 total resources). I want to synce
the ERP with this new AD group, however it is giving me this error. I assume
it is because 400 of the 600 resources are already in the ERP. Is there a
way to get it to add these new 200 users?

Hi Kuhl,

The quickest way would be to create a temporary AD Global group for the
200 users and synchronize with the ERP. It will add your Resources and
create the User Accounts.

Good Luck

Im a little confused on another issue then. If this is the case (that I have
to create a seperate group to sync because others in the same AD group are
already in the ERP) then what happens when a new employee is hired into the
organization? I thought we would just add them to the AD group that syncs
with the ERP and it would pull them over? But according to what you have
told me, this is not the case?? How to I automatically get new employees
into the ERP using AD?

Hi Kuhl,

The question I have is, how were the original 400 users included in the
ERP? Were they synchronized, imported or manually created?

About 40 were manually created and the rest were AD synchronized.

OK. So let me recap

1. You manually created 40 resources in the ERP
2. You synchronized an AD Group to the ERP which included the 40
resources for a total of 400 resources/users.
3. You created a new AD Group that included users from the first 400
resources/users for a total of 600 resources/users.
4. When you synchronize the new AD Group to the ERP you receive the
following error:
"This key is already associated with an element of this collection."

If this is correct, then I believe that the problem lies with changing
the AD Group from the old group to the new group. Try the following:

1. Add the new AD group as a member to the old AD group. (This is called
a nested group and it assumes that your AD Domain function is Windows
2000 native or Windows Server 2003) Note

2. Use the old AD group name to synchronize to the ERP.

3. Check the Event Viewer on Project Server and the Domain Controller
for any irregularities.

Let know what happens...

I found the solution for this. I had to contact Microsoft and obtain a hot
fix for the service pack.

Thanks,
