Active Directory Sync

If I create resources on Project Server, will they stay active even if they
are not in the Active Directory group that Project Server is being synced up
with? Does the sync add to the resource pool or does it over-write?

In the futue it would be helpful if you specify whether you are referring to
MSPS 2003 or 2007.

Generally though, if the user is added outside the AD synch to Project
Server and then the user is added to the group, they will synch up
permanently the next time the synch occurs. This means it is over-written,
not added.

Any user added outside the AD synch to Project Server that does not match a
users windows account in the AD group will be left alone.

A user that has been synched via the AD group synch will be de-activated in
the resource pool once they are removed from the group.

All this is done using GUID (Global Unique Identifiers)

Project Server 2007

I am experiencing different results from what you described. I have a few
users that were added to the Enterprise Resource Pool manually. I have the
Enterprise Resource Pool syncing up with an Active Directory group every
morning. These users are not part of the group. From what you said, these
users should be left alone. However, they are made inactive every morning.
How can I prevent this? In the future, we will just add everyone to the
group but for right now we cannot do this.

Thanks.

Hey Joe,

You can specify in the edit details of a user that you want to prevent them
the from being synchronized with AD. In PWA from Resource Center or from
Server Settings>Manage Users when you go to edit the details of the
resource/user, you can check the box for "Prevent Active Directory
synchronization for this user" under the "User Authentication" section.

Also, can you check in the "System Identification Data" section whether
there is a value set for "Active Directory GUID:"

If there is, then the resource/user somehow got linked to the AD group.

Hope this helps,

Jonathan Sofer
