Active X Controls

Hi, When client machines try to export the grid in PWA to excel we receive an
eror message that reads: (The active x control on which this feature depends
could not be created. Because of this error, you can only copy the XML data
to the clipboard.)
All machines are running Microsoft excel 10.0 or higher. We are using
Project Professional 2003, Project Server 2003 and PWA 2003. How can I
correct this problem. Thanks

It sounds like you're missing the Microsoft Office Web Components on the
client

You can find the OWC11.exe file on the Project Server in the following
directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Project Server 2003\IIS Virtual Root\
Download\1033\

Install on each client

Good Luck

Hi, I installed the Microsoft office web components on each client via the
owc11.exe file, but I am still getting the same error message on each client.
Is there possibly another solution?

Thanks, D-man

I had to re-read your original post

The problem you are having is with Excel 10.0 (Excel XP)
Only Excel 11.0 (Excel 2003) is supported for the Export Grid to Excel
function.

Sorry D-Man :-(

Hello again, I have checked all the client machines and they have all been
upgraded to excel 2003. Do you have any other suggestions? It seems I'm not
the only one having this problem.

Thanks, D-man

Yves and D-man,

Can you check something for me?
Launch PWA (as Administrator) --> Admin --> Manage users and groups
At the Users page, click Show Grid (if not showing), then click the
Export Grid to Excel link.

Does it open Excel 2003 and displays the User List in PWA?

Hi Yves, I have found a solution to the active X issue. You must make your
PWA web site a "trusted site." From your internet explorer tool bar, choose
tools, internet options, security, and click on the green trusted sites check
mark. Click on the sites button. Un check the" require server verification
for all sites in this zone." From here enter your web site name in the "add
this web site to the zone" box. For example: http://your domain name, then
click ok. Once this is complete go to the Custom level button under the
security tab. From here enable all active x controls and click OK. Give this
a try. I am now able to export grid to excel.

Thanks D-man
