ActiveSync-Attention Required

S

SarahhhE

Windows XP sp2, Norton AV ver 10, Outlook 2002 SR1 ActiveSync 3.7 (or 3.8)

I am unable to synchronize Calendar, Contacts or Tasks with above system on
an Ipaq 5550. We get "attention required" on those 3 folders, but favorites
and inbox will synch. Error msg:

Synchronization cannot start because this desktop computer cannot access
necessary information. Restart this desktop computer and synch again. if
the problem persists...run detect and repair.
when i click resolve items I get:

Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronized. Disconnect
and reconnect your device.
I have done that Many times.
I have run detect and repair-no work
recreated user profile and mail profile-no work
i have reimaged pc-no work
deleted and recreated partnership-no work
reset handheld-no work
uninstall & reinstall 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8 activesync-no work
xp firewall is disabled-no work

Please help if you can! thank you so much.

the pocket pc groups may be better...

Are you using Exchange server? If so, is antivirus running on it?

Do you have any idea which items are the problem? They may be marked with
little swords or listed in the Sync folder.

I had a similar error once- nothing would sync at all though and resetting
the Ipaq and starting completely over fixed it.

We have only Symantec Mail Security running on our exchange server. I do not
know how to tell which items are the problem. Her calendar is quite large.
Where would I be able to view the "swords"? Also, i can't find a Sync folder
anywhere.

I tried uninstalling AV from client-and recreating partnership again. Nothing.

use a table view and sort by icons... if the items that are a problem have
attachments, the mail scanner may be trying to scan them as AS trys to sync
them.

If you don;t have a sync folder, is there a sync log in the deleted folder?

diane, thanks for your suggestions.
Yesterday while working on another issue, which involved calendars in OWA,
it was discovered that permissions on our Exchange organization were not
correct. Through ADSIEdit, working with a very nice man at Microsoft, we set
permissions for Everyone to be able to read, create top level public folder
items, create public folder, and create named properties in information store.

I don't know if this is what fixed my user's synchronization problem or not,
but it fixed the problem we were having with adding calendar appointments
through OWA, which in a wierd kind of way could make sense.

For what it's worth, the pda is now synchronizing.
