Activesync certain categories for contacts doesnt work

I bought new PC.
installed outlook.
installed plaxo.
had plaxo fill my contacts from its online database which i have been
maintaining with old pc.
activesync with my PDA (xda2).
For contacts, I select only certain categories to sync.

Problem: all contacts are being synced even if I specified only certain
categories.

tried deleting partnership. deleted all contacts in pda. recreated
partnership specifying to replace all contacts in PDA with the ones in
desktop. Still the same problem. I still see all my contacts in the PDA
no matter what category i choose to sync.

PLEASE HELP

Operating System: Windows XP
E-mail Program: Microsoft Outlook 2003

Try disabling or uninstalling Plaxo. It is well-known that Plaxo screws up
Outlook.

tried it. same problem.

i erased everything. put back my backup copy of contacts and
everything's ok. it's a little barbaric and I still cannot understand
why a simle sync only certain categories won't work. it bugs me.

hope someone's got an explanation.

You might try asking in the m.p.pocketpc.activesync newsgroup.
