Activities - How work and resource plan work shows up in Data Anal

We are using Activities for managing maintenance tasks. Activity tasks are
created for each individual in the maintenance team activity plan for the
entire year. Additionally, we use Resource plan on the same activity to
allocate work.

When you view Resource Availability in Resource Center for the maintenance
team resources, the resource plan work shows up against the activity and the
resource availability picture looks ok.

But, when you review Resource Availability in Data Analysis views, Work
column shows the Activity tasks work (100% booked) and not the resource plan
work and the resource availability looks wrong. For example, if a resource
is booked on a task for the entire month in the activity, the work shows up
as 168hr opposed to the resource plan work which only should be 40hrs.

This is throwing off the entire resource management discussion. As work for
all the resources in the activities is not showing as planned in Resource
plans.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on how to solve this scenario,
so that Work in Data Analysis shows Resource Plan work hours (when there is a
resource plan) and work hours when there is no resource plan.

That is the downside of using resource plans to reduce availability. It
works one way in the resource availability reports in the resource center
and another way in the Data Analysis views. In Data Analysis, the resource
plan hours are stored in a separate field then the resource work and there
is no way to determine which should be used (i.e. the rules you set in the
resource plan to reduce availability from Plan, Resource Plan, or Plan up to
a certain date)
