Activities search times out. BCM conflict?

Alrighty, I am just about to push my computer off my desk, so any help is
appreciated.

Short Version:

BCM, installed yesterday, is not working (can't connect to database engine),
possibly due to a forced hard shutdown. This *may* be able to be fixed by
ensuring that I am on the registered users list, but this can only be carried
out by admin again.

Trying to use Outlooks regular contacts has now resulted in the Activities
tab timing out on searches, even for contacts with very few emails back and
forth. When I make a new contact and check the Activities tab befre saving
and closing, the actitivies are there (emails back and forth) however after
saving and opening again, the search icon just spins and no results are found.

So far BCM has been a right pain in the rear. Would removing it completely
bring back the regular Contacts Activities panel. I have a feeling that BCM
takes this over when it is installed.

Background:
Yesterday we finally managed to get Business Contact Manager installed and
working after problems with installing it as admin and then trying to use it
as a limited user.

Today our PC had a physical issue (shorted USB port on the front panel)
which rendered all inputs (mouse, keyboard, USB) unusable. This required a
hard shutdown (power button off) so the tech guys could open up. This was
done while Outlook and BCM were running as there was no way around this.
