To selectively track e-mail with certain correspondents, I
manually drag relevant e-mail messages from the Sent
folder to the Journal folder, select the matching Contact
Record at the bottom of the Item, and Save/Close. Thus I
can go to that Contact Record, click the Activities Tab,
and view only those Items I have manually linked.
Most of the time the search is very quick, and the Items I
have manually dragged into the Journal appear immediately.
From time to time the Activities Tab search feature seems
to get "stuck." Outlook appears to be searching for the
Journal items linked to the active Contact, but nothing is
found, or it takes forever for the first Item to be
located. Then, other items follow, sometimes fast and
sometimes slow.
The only way I've found to "unstick" the search feature is
to close/open Outlook once or twice, although sometimes I
have to re-boot my PC to have any effect. Any fixes or
workarounds for this problem?
