Actual Task Duration in MS P 2000

Hi,

I actuall have 3 questions with which I could use help:

1. Under the "Resource Usage" view, I have one resource whose hours for one
day are is listed in red, even though he's not overallocated. It lists 8hr,
just like all the other days, however, this particular day is listed in red.
Any idea why?

2. One of my project's tasks finished in 4 days instead 3 days for which it
was originally scheduled. What is the best way for one to update the
project plan to reflect this change, and for the "successor" tasks to be
updated correctly as well?

3. I have certain task that needs to start on a certain day, by a specific
resource, and this certain task would fall in the middle of another task
that this specific resource was working on. I changed the priority level of
this certain task so that's it's higher than the other task this resource is
working on, but it doesn't seem to spilit his/her task evenly around the
newly inserted task. It uses 1.6 hr, one day, and 2.4 hours another day,
and then the next day it does 6.4 hr and 1.6 hr. My question is: Why
doesn't just split this task evenly around the original task. It seems
simple for the newly insterted, higher priority task, is just one day, so I
thought that Project would just conveniently skip that day and split the
task so it finishes on the day after the newly inserted task. but it does
not. Any ideas?

Thanks,
John

1 - Look at the times the tasks he's assigned to on that day. If they
overlap, he's overbooked for that period even though the total hours may be
within acceptable limits. He could even be allowed 8 hours, booked for only
one each on two different tasks, and still be overallocated if those two
tasks happen to be at the same time during the day.

2 - On the tracking table indicate Actual Duration of 3 days and Remaining
Duration 0.

3 - Can't say for sure but it sounds like your tasks are not starting and
ending exactly at the start or end of the day. In the Tools Options View
menu select a date format that includes the time and see if that's the case.
