Actual work and % complete - Project Server 2007

Project Pro is not allowing me to update % completes in the client, I am only
able to enter them in PWA. If a % complete is already populated, and I assign
a resource to the task I receive the following error:

Your action may result in actuals this project becoming out of synch with
the actuals updated from timesheets. You can: synch actuals with the Synch
actuals command on the Tracking menu, or synch actuals when you save the
project.

When I click Yes, the % complete is changed back to 0.

I've never had this problem before. Any suggestions? I need to be able to
adjust % completes in the client.

This is not a problem. What you are seeing is a consequence of your Project
Server administrator enabling the Managed Time Periods feature in Project
Server 2007. With this feature enabled, PMs cannot manually enter progress
in a project in Project Professional 2007, and all progress must be
submitted from team members' My Tasks page in PWA. Hope this helps.
