Actual Work, auto adjusts

I'm using Project for recording purposes and it's becoming a serious
problem that 'Actual Work' entries could be auto-adjusted by Project if
the 'Work' hours are made less then the 'Actual Work'.

Is there a way to get Project to not let entries effect 'Actual Work'
so this can be used reliably to record information and so I don't have
to worry about it being over-written.

*How* are you you recording *what* in Project?

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

You need to save a Baseline first so that you have the original plan
safeguarded. Then you can use the Tracking Gantt view to compare actual
with planned.

Hi,

Fact is, what do you want?
For Project, Ever and always you will find
Work=Actual Work+Remaining Work
so say the original situation is 5d, 4d, 1d
Now you change work to 3d..
Project can not put remaining work to minus 1 day, so the only possible
solution is 3d, 3d, 0d
The only solution would be to refuse the entry of 3d work but if you write
it, you have to know what you want... You could..
- Tell users not to modify work on a started task (only through giving in
REMAINING WORK)
-Or have work entered through a VBA form that would refuse entries lower
than actual work..
