Actual work in OLAP cube doesn't match with Project Pro 2003

Hi,

We have been building OLAP cubes on a weekly basis during last year, and
last week we have noticed that the values of the actual work in the OLAP cube
in many projects are 0 while the values in Project Pro 2003 for the same
workplan are not 0. We don't know what has happended (last week the cube data
was right and we have not made any updates in the server
configuration/software) or how to solved it. We have rebuild the cube many
times with the same error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Oscar

I have seen similiar issues with EPM 2003, sometimes it helped to physically
delete the OLAP cube in SQL Analysis Services and rebuild it from scratch.

If this doesn't work you may have to export the project (MPP) as a file to
XML format and re-import it to EPM under a new name.

Hope this helps...

Hi Marc,

We have removed the OLAP cube and built again. Same problem. We have about
450 workplans on the server, so it is quite difficult to look for which
workplan is causing the error. Any suggestions on what we should look for in
the workplans?

Thanks & regards,
Oscar

First and foremost you need to identify which projects are causing the
problems.
- create an OLAP view with actual hours per project, export it to Excel
- create an equivalent view in PWA Project Center and also export it to Excel
- merge the two tables for comparison

Even though it's been quite a while since I have seen this issue and worked

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your answer. We have created the views and there are 210 of 450
workplans with 0 actuals. Reimporting all these workplans would take a lot of
time.
Could it be that a "corrupted" workplan cause this error? If so, how can we
find it?

Thanks & regards,
Oscar

Hi Oscar,

Did you make sure that in the OLAP cube building settings you actually
inlcude "earliest start date" as well as "latest finish date"?

With support of your SQL admin go the SQL Analysis Services and select the
respective cube. With a right-click on the cube you should be able to
"browse" it. This should allow you to see EPM data, e.g. actuals per project
etc. Make sure that you see the same number of hours for all projects that
you see in the PWA OLAP view.

Have you ever tried to connect to the OLAP cube using Excel? Also check if
you see the sama actuals hours per project in Excel as in the PWA OLAP views.

Hi Marc,

We have noticed that the MSP_VIEW_PROJ_ASSN_TP_BY_DAY has incorrect data in
the AssignmentTimeActualWork column (0 hours) that makes that the OLAP cube
has incorrect data too. Do you know how this MSP_VIEW tables data can be
refreshed?

Thanks & best regards,
Oscar
