Actual work protected

Hello!

In one of our workplans we have seen that there are actual work protected in
the future on tasks with no resources assigned. How can it be that there are
actual work protected and how can Idelete these actuals.

Many thanks,

Joerg

This probably was caused by creating a new project from an existing one, or
by resources reporting future work and the PM accepting it.

To fix it, turn off managed time periods, delete the future work, and
republish the project, checking the box to overwrite actuals in resources'
timesheets. Then, turn on managed time periods.

you may want to do this during off hours, or temporarily deny log-in
permission to most users, so as to prevent anyone from accidentally changing
protected actuals in other projects.

Hello!

The problem is that the task currently has no assigned resources and no
actual work in the future. Only Actual Work protected is on some days in the
future. And I cannot delete these actual work protected on the task only for
the future.

Do you have an another idea or have I overlook anything?

Many thanks,

Joerg

If you turn off managed time periods, you should be able to delete Actual
Work. Then, Actual Work Protected should adjust itself. Does that not work?

I have seen this happen on Summary Tasks, where the rollup does not get
deleted even though the individual tasks do. I found that an outdent/indent
of the underlying tasks was useful in removing the artifacts. Also a
"Calculate Now" may help. May not work in all situations and may not apply to
your situation, but what the heck.
