Actual work

Hi

Is it possible to restrict the resource from booking the actual work more than the estimated hour.
For ex. if a task has bee allocated 10 hrs.. is it possible to restrict the resource from booking more than 10 hours?. I want the resource to get the extra hours allocated from the project manager in case he requires more time.

Can any one suggest regarding this

Yes but.
You'll have to trap the data they enter with "on change event" vb code...

But do you really want people to under-report actual hours spent on a task?

I suspect that over time people will just stop reporting the extra hours
and your actual results will be wrong.

Be careful where you create barriers....

Hi Mark

Thanks

Its just that i wanted to make the PM aware that extra time is spent on the task. The resource should be able to book time more than allocated hours only if the PM allocates additional hours

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

What if they've worked them on the idea that it is easier to get forgiveness
than it is to get permission. The PM really shouldn't be micro-managing the
resource's work, IMHO, and you run the risk that if it becomes too much of a
hassle for your resource's to get their work done they'll just cut the PM
out of the loop.
