AD Connector error

When I added an AD group to sync with the enterprise
Resource pool and do an "Update Now" it says :
The Active Directory group failed to synchronize with the
Enterprise Resource Pool on 8/4/2004 at 12:42 PM.

And then when I check the Application log in the event
viewer this is the error:

Any ideas what this means and how to check the status of
the AD connector?

Have you applied Service Pack 1? This error may be caused by a known issue
corrected by the service pack.
