AD synchro and GUID

Hello,
When I synchronize the AD users and Project Server resources (Enterprise
Resource Pool) in the Group page of PWA, many of my resources are
deactivated. That's the resources who own a GUID.

-Where does it come from (this GUID)?
- What is its use?
-Can we delete it?

Thanks for help,

Concerning the resources being set to Inactive by AD synchronization, do
these resources use Project Server authentication (you have not entered
Windows user account information for them)? If so, you need to either add
Windows user account information for these resources, or you need to exclude
these resources from the AD synchronization process by completing the
following steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Manage users and groups
3. Select one of the inactive resources and click the Modify user button
4. Set the Account Status option to Active
5. Select the "Clear User AD GUID" option
6. Click the Save Changes button

Let us know if this helps.

Hi Dale,

Concerning the resources being set to Inactive by AD synchronization, these
resources used Windows authentication but were not included in the Group
used to the synchronization.
I cleared the User AD GUID for these "out of synchronization" resources and
now everything works fine.
Thanks you very much

Hello Dale,
<<If so, you need to either add Windows user account information for these

So, it's possible and conceivable to set 2 types of accounts for one
user-resource?

Although it is possible, I would certainly not recommend it. Way too
confusing for everyone involved. I would recommend that you folks rethink
your use of the AD synchronization feature. Ideally, your AD administrator
should set up AD groups that correspond with Project Server's default Groups
(Project Managers, Team Members, etc.) and then you link each Project Server
group with the appropriate AD group. Hope this helps.

Dale,
If I understood well, this kind of synchronization (AD group to Project
Server group) synchronises only "users", not the "resources"?
I'm right ?
Thanks again.
