AD to PS synchronization custom Field mapping

I have Project Server 2003 and W2K3R3 Domain. AD to PS synchronization
working great for User, Groups, and Resource Pool. However, my Resource
Manager would like to have the User Name (in Project Server) mapped to the
User Logon Name (in AD). I know this is not possible out of the box, but
what are the steps involved with implementing.
