add a watermark to only half a page

I am composing a booklet on folded landscape 8.5X11 paper. I would like to
add a watermark or a background so that it only shows on a single page (when
folded) In essence it would be adding it to only one half of a landscaped
paper.

Possibilities:

Use WordArt and set text wrapping to 'Behind text 'and in Format WordArt set
transparency to say 75%

Draw your own shapes and do the same text wrap and transparency

Load an image, set text wrap to 'Behind text', in Format Picture/Picture tab
for Image control/color select Washout

Any of these can be sized and moved to fit your half page
