Add buttons to formatting palette

Doc Overkill

Gang,
I just upgraded from Office X to 2004. I'd like to add a couple
buttons to the Formatting Palette ('m pretty sure they were in it
before, but aren't since the upgrade).

The Customize Formatting Palette command doesn't seem to have any
options for changing the buttons. The Customize Toolbars/Menus
comands doesn't work (I drag the button icons over to the palette but
nothing happens there). I can't even rearrange location of buttons on
the palette. I thought I had done that in the past by option-dragging
or similar key-drag, but no luck now.

Are the Formatting Palette contents completely fixed?!?

thanks!

Yes - the most you can do is enable or disable whole panes.

However, as a workaround, you can certainly create a custom toolbar
(Tools/Customize.../Customize Toolbars/Menus...). You don't get the cool
fade effect, of course.

I've let the MacBU Word devs know that the Formatting Palette (which, I
believe, is a collection of toolbars) should be exposed to the GUI, or
at least to VBA.

Don't know how difficult that is, but the more people that ask for it,
the more likely it's considered...
