add fill to shape I created

V

Vera

I have created some custom shapes using the shape operations (union, combine,
etc.). They seem to function ok as shapes & I can change the line color/wt,
but I can't get any fill color to show. I've check all the protections,
that's not it. Suggestions? thanks!

The shape needs to be closed by lines or curves in order to apply the fill
option.
Sometimes the outline looks ok and closed but is not.
If you want to you can send me a shape sample by email.

I also have the same problem, but using Vera's fix didn't fix mine.
I created a half moon using two curved lines, but can't fill. I linked the
two together at the ends at the point that turns red when two points meet,
then tried join. Neither worked.

Hello Kathryn,

When you combine the curves you end up with a single shape made up of two
geometry sections. The combine operation can set the fill settings to
false. To correct this, select your shape and click Window/Show ShapeSheet.

From here you'll find (hopefully) two Geometry sections the first cells of
which are called "Geometry1(or 2).NoFill". These need to be set to False in
order for the shape to accept a fill colour.

Let me know if this helps.

Best regards

John

One other point is that if you draw the two curves in one go you'll get a
single shape automatically without the need to 'combine'. It has the added
benefit of creating a single geometry section with NoFill set to False.

That did work. Thank you so much. I was able to submit the drawing and not
have to worry about it anymore. Kathryn
