Add global holiday dates

Matt

I am new to Project Server and inherited the system. I need to add
global holiday dates for 2009 so that they are reflected on all
created Projects.

How do I do this??

Thanks in advance.

Hi Matt,

You need to set up an Enterprise Calendar. Go to Server settings>Enterprise
calendars and create a new Calendar. Enter your global holiday dates in the
exceptions Tab and the Working Days in the WorkWeeks tab. Then you will need
to apply this Calendar to your resources and projects for it to take effect.

For projects this can be done by opening each Project then go to
Project>Project Information and set the Calendar for the project. Then save
and publish.

Fro Resources select all and open the Pool and change the Calendar
associated with each relevant resource. Then save and exit.

Beware that some of your resources/projects may already have custom
Calendars, so you will need to check them before changing them in case they
include important information.

Cheers

Mike

When reading "inherited" I suppose that the system was already used in 2008
with holidays and appropriate working time?
Go to Server settings>Enterprise
calendars and select your standard calendar. If there are more than one your
organization has to decide in which calendar holidays need to be reflected.
Click on "Edit Calendar" (you need Project Professional installed). Select
the day, write a description in the table and click in the first date field.
It will be inserted automatically. Of course you can also enter all holidays
manually in the table. Repeating holidays (same date) can be maintained usind
Details. Holidays arised by the moon like Easter have to be entered for each
year manually.

All projects and ressources based on your updated calendar(s) will reflect
your changes automatically. So your project managers have to be aware of your
changes.

Barbara

I assume you're talking about the going to the Web Access page. I did
a bit of research on my own before I created this thread, and I
couldn't find the "Server Settings" link anywhere. I'm using Project
Server 2003 if that makes a difference.

Matt --

In the future, please tell us what version of Project Server you are using.
As you now know, the correct answer to your question depends very much on
your version. To solve your problem, do the following:

1. Launch Project Professional 2003 and connect to Project Server with
administrator permissions.
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Global.
3. Click Tools - Change Working Time.
4. Assuming the Standard calendar contains your 2008 company holidays, add
your 2009 holidays to this calendar.
5. Click the OK button.
6. Save and close the Enterprise Global file.
7. Exit Project Professional 2003 and relaunch the software.

Hope this helps.
