I recently installed the Look2Skype add-in for Microsoft Outlook
(www.look2skype.com). I've found it very valuable: it integrates well
into Outlook, and allows a user to initiate a SkypeOut call from within
Outlook...either from a toolbar or by right-clicking a contact.
I would LOVE to see a similar concept, but for AOL Instant Messenger.
AIM has a great built-in feature that allows it to send any instant
message to a phone number, in the format of +19175555555
(+[countrycode][phonenumber]). The message shows up as an SMS text
message. I would think that the Look2Skype model could be applied so
that a user could initiate the text message from within Outlook, and the
toolbar or right-click menu option could identify the number in the
Outlook contact's mobile phone field to use for the instant message.
Does anyone know if a program like this already exists? Like
Look2Skype, I think it would only be readily adopted if it were free for
personal use.
