We have a COM add-in written in VB6 that adds a toolbar
to Outlook. The toolbar has installed with no problems on
various combinations of OS / office version, including
2000, 2002, and 2003. However, today we tried installing
it in a place where they were running the original office
2000 (not SR1) and the add-in simply did not install (the
installer seemed to work, but the toolbar did not appear.
If installing the DLL directly from outlook the DLL does
not appear in the list of installed COM add-ins and the
toolbar does not appear).
Does anyone have an idea why the add-in should work on
some versions of office, or specifically some versions of
office 2000 and not others? Is there anything to look for
to make the add-in compatible with all versions of
outlook 2000, as well as outlook 2002 and 2003? The
problem doesn't seem to have anything to do with the
network as the add-in did install correctly on a machine
running office 2003 on the same network.
Thanks
