Add-in problem

On trying to create the first email message each time after starting Outlook
2007, I get the following message:

The Add-inn "FaxExtension" (C:\Windows\System32\fxsext32.dll) cannot be
loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in
manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the
Add-in.

After clicking the OK button on the messsage everything works fine.

I have looked at the Add-ins in Outllook (Tools>Trust Center>Add-ins) but
don't see this add-in, nor can I find the fxsext32.dll in the System32
folder.

I had tried to install a old fax program on my Vista computer but it turned
out to be incompatible and did not work, so I uninstalled it - this appears
to have caused the problem. Unfortunately I don't have the restore point
when this was done so can't do System Restore to solve the problem. Is
there some other way to remove the Add-in and stop the message appearing in
Outlook?

Deleting this file makes no difference. Outlook just creates another one
but the error message still comes up.

You mention trying to roll back to a restore point but have you tried
uninstalling the program from the Control Panel's Programs & Features
applet?

if faxextension (or any fax program) is not listed in addins and you deleted
extend.dat (while outlook is closed) outlook shouldn't even be trying to
load it. Did you look in both com addins and exchange extensions? (in the
dropdown on the addins dialog page)

If you used easy transfer to move a profile from an older system, try a new
profile.

Many thanks for the information, there was something about a fax under
exchange extensions which I have now unchecked, so hopefully this will solve
the problem.
