Add-ins affecting Excel 2007 application

I downloaded the XML addin for excel and now I can no longer double-click on
excel files to open them. I have to have the Excel application open first and
then double-click or go through the file>open process in Excel.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem? If so, do you know how to fix it?

yes i have, but not solved yet..
