Add new dependency in 2007

R

Robert

Hello,
In Project Pro 2007, when you click the link "Add new dependency", you are
able to see only the deliverables of your own projects (if your are a PM).
How can we see the deliverables of *all* the projects in the enterprise?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Robert,

in order to see all deliverables accross the entire organisation you will
need to custom develop a report that sucks the information from the Project
Workspaces. It is difficult getting data out of SharePoint from all the
workspaces, we have developed a "shadowing database" which interrigates the
workpspaces and saves them to another DB. From the DB we are able to create
reports using reporting services.
Unfortunatly there is no "out of the box" offer available from Project
Server, but if you search google, you will find some 3rd party products that
can suck the information from Sharepoint.
Hope this helps

Thanks Marc,

I expected that it was possible to allow dependencies on every deliverables
in the enterprise projects to every project manager, just using the
permissions in Categories and Groups... Is not it possible ?
Thanks again

Robert:

You need to make sure that the PMs have at least read access to the other
project workspaces. You can accomplish this through Groups and Categories,
but there are other ways as well, such as assigning PMs to project teams for
projects with deliverables that they need to consume.
