Add-On templates deactivated after Word restarts

We have two macros that have been placed inside the Apps/Office
2004/Office/Startup/Word folder. These have then been added into the
Tools->Templates & Add-ins->Global Templates section. One of these
macros works perfectly fine. The other unchecks itself each time that
Word is shut down and restarted. You must then go back into
Tools->Templates & Add-ins->Global Templates and check the box again to
activate it. Anyone have any idea why this would be happening?
Especially if one works and the other doesn't.

Both files are located on the local machine. It is not being accessed
over the network.

I don't know why one's unchecking itself.

However, if you put the add-ins in the .../Startup/Word folder, they
will automatically load on startup (unless you've set an alternative
startup folder), and there's no need to use Tools/Templates & Add-ins...

That is where they are already. Every time that we start Word, one of
the templates unchecks itself.

As I said, it doesn't matter whether the Tools/Templates and Add-ins
checkboxes are checked. You really don't want them to be.

The add-ins are loaded simply by virtue of being stored in the Startup
folder.

When you check the checkbox, IIRC, you're trying to load a second
instance of the template (which it won't do). So uncheck the checkboxes.

I have 12 Word add-ins that load at startup. They are stored in my MUD
folder, and aliases to them are stored in my alternate startup folder.
They don't show up in my Tools/Templates and Add-ins list.

If you want to manually control whether or not they are loaded, take
them out of the Startup folder, put them in another safe location, and
use the Tools/Templates and Add-ins dialog to load and unload them.
