add reference number my email

Dear All,

I want to add reference number in my each new or reply mails..

i.e. on 01-Jan-09
ay2009/01/01-01 in 1st mail
ay2009/01/01-02 in 2nd mail
ay2009/01/01-03 in 3rd mail and so on..

next day 02-Jan-08
it should automation change to
ay2009/01/02-01 in 1st mail
ay2009/01/02-02 in 2nd mail
ay2009/01/02-03 in 3rd mail and so on..

Why?
Since each msg you send has a time stamp what purpose does adding a ref
have?
The only method of adding such a ref is by using VB

They already do have a unique reference number. Its the value of the
Message-ID header.
