Add resource using AD

I read in some posts mentioning about adding resources using AD. Do I need
project professional installed ? Would appreciate any pointer, a link or book
that shows step by step would help.

Hmmm....not sure if you're talking about Server or Desktop, so I'll try both:

1) With the desktop version of MS Project (Pro or Standard), navigate to the
Resource Sheet, select Insert > Resource > From AD. If you're connected to
the domain, the program will go out and show a list of potential candidates
to be added to the Resource Sheet. If you do select them, they will get
their name and a couple of other fields (E-mail Account, Login ID, Group)
populated.

2) With the server, you need to configure the Resource Pool and the User
Groups to sync to AD groups that have been preconfigured by your AD admin.
That's all done within the Server Settings option.
