add task information to portfolio analyzer

Hi,
I try to create a portfolio analyzer view where work and costs can be
considered in relationship to different properties.
On property is a financel controlling number that is assigned each task. I
added a task outlinecode to the enterprise global with the used numbers and
assigned the numbers to the tasks. But this outline code doesn't appear in
the field list when I build the portfolio analyser view. Since ressource
outline codes appear, I guess that only project and ressource field can be
used. So I used a ressource outline code for the controlling numbers and
assigned them in an ressource assignment view to the ressources.
Now I have the numbers in the field list and can use them. But I don't like
this solution, the controlling number is assigned severl times if a task has
more than one ressource and I just don't like assigning a task value in a
ressource field. Is there any other possibilty?

Thanks
Thea

You can extend OLAP to include Task data. There is an SDK for this
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...8c-8bca-4db9-8753-178c0d3099c5&displaylang=en

OLAP Extensions Solution Starter shows how to extend the Portfolio
Analyzer cube and add views. Samples include adding a pay period
dimension, and extensions for task issues and risks and task earned
value. These extensions help project managers analyze and report the
earned value and evaluate risks across a project portfolio.

There is some good info about OLAP here:

http://www.mosha.com/msolap/tech.htm

The OLAP Solution Starter is not easy for a non-developer, no matter
what MSFT says. I have seen a number of instances where it didn't work
correctly, so if you are not a developer, get one involved to help.

Now I was just wondering if there is a possebility to see weeks in a time
scale in the portfolio anlayser. At the moment I have years, quaters, month
and days.

When you extend OLAP, you can decide what you want to do with it,
within the limits of the system of course. Adding weeks and adding
tasks are both possible.
