add title above table

When I finish my table, how do I add a title above the table? I don't want
to change the cell contents which the instructions seem to result in. Can
you help?

Put the title in an ordinary text paragraph, formatted as "Keep
with next" (Format>Paragraph, Line and Page Breaks tab). The Caption
style, which Word applies when you Insert>Reference>Caption, has this
setting by default. Alternatively, put the title inside a border-less
top row (and format the row as "Keep with next").

If the table is at the very beginning of your document, press Ctrl+Home to
get to the beginning of the table, then press Enter. This will create a new
text paragraph above the table.
